His installations consist of arrangements of metal hand formed elements or single elements into geometric volumes, which are suspended in midair by nearly invisible nylon threads. Through computer programming, they constantly shift and mutate, producing highly nuanced choreographic effects. His work questions the concept of form, space, movement and time and it\u2019s often associated with the study of color, the experimentation of different materials and textures, of light and shadow.<\/p>\n<p>Elias Crespin grew up in Caracas, where he was originally trained as a computer engineer. His parents were both mathematicians, his grandparents were artists: his\u00a0work perfectly integrates these two personal universes, science and art. It was only later in his career, in 2002, after having worked for fifteen years in software programming, that he started developing his first piece. He finished it after two years of research.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Since 2004, his sculptures\u00a0have been shown in international cultural institutes like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bienaldecuenca.org\">XIII Bienal de Cuenca<\/a> 2016,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.busanbiennale.org\">Busan Biennale<\/a> in Korea in 2014, in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mfah.org\/exhibitions\/past\/north-looks-south-building-latin-american-art-coll\/\">Museum of Fine Arts Houston<\/a>, in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eliascrespin.net\/en\/exhibition\/dynamo\/\">Grand Palais<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eliascrespin.net\/en\/exhibition\/echo-revolution-xenakis\/\">Mus\u00e9e de la Musique<\/a> in Paris, in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.villaempain.com\/expos\/expositions-passees\/exposition-turbulences-ii\/\">Boghossian Foundation<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maisonparticuliere.be\/en\/past\/1067-everybody-is-crazy.html\">Maison particuli\u00e8re<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.fondationdentreprisehermes.org\/Know-how-and-creativity\/Exhibitions-by-the-Foundation\/Thought-and-gesture-at-La-Verriere?force=true\">Verri\u00e8re Herm\u00e8s<\/a> in Brussels; the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eliascrespin.net\/exhibition\/negative-space-2\/\">ZKM Center for arts and media<\/a> in Karlsruhe, or the <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eliascrespin.net\/exhibition\/immaterial-re-material\/\">Ullens Center for Contemporary Art<\/a> in Beijing<\/span>. They have entered the collections of important institutions such as the <strong>Mus\u00e9e du Louvre<\/strong> and the <strong>Maison de l&#8217;Am\u00e9rique Latine<\/strong> in Paris, the <strong>Nelson Atkins Museum of Art<\/strong> of Kansas City, the <strong>Museum of Fine Arts of Houston<\/strong>, <strong>El Museo del Barrio<\/strong> in New York, the <strong>MALBA<\/strong> in Buenos Aires.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2008 he lives and works in Paris.<\/p><\/div><div
